Used Car Delivery UK
We are often asked what is the best way to go about performing a used car delivery. When someone asks us this, what they normally mean is a few things.
First of all the customer, or company wants to know the cheapest way to deliver a car. This makes sense because there is less of a profit margin when selling used cars but the cheapest option isn't always the best option as we will explain later on.
Secondly, and possibly more importantly than the first is - how can you get it delivered safely without any problems? This particular question is something that should be on the forefront of every car sales companies minds. It's one thing to get a slightly lower profit margin, but would any car company think it was worth the risk of having a bad review or return due to lack of attention to detail? Probably not.
The First Problem: Profit Margin
Nobody in the car sales industry is there for anything less than to make money. If you are in the business of selling used cars then naturally you will want to save as much money on transportation costs as possible.
By far the cheapest way to transport a car is to use the driven car delivery method. This is when an experienced trade plate driver will drive the car being transported to the customer. While it's the cheapest option, it can also be the riskiest.
Driven car deliveries can usually be around 50% cheaper than using a car transporter. This is obviously a very appealing prospect considering the average transporter cost is around £300. Of course, you have to take into account unforseen costs. You will be expected to front the fuel bill, toll charges, ferry costs, london emissions charge, and other costs which may put a dent in your profit margin.
A lot of car companies will choose this option for short distance deliveries. Not only is it a cheaper option, but it's also a very fast option too.
The second Problem; Hassle Free Delivery
We Deliver Vehicles do our best to alleviate that risk factor. Our drivers will take pictures of the car before delivery and have excellent interpersonal skills. The reality, however, is that some customers will complain.
They will say the car was dirty on arrival, there is damage that they hadn't previously seen and although you may be able to prove otherwise, it can produce negative reviews if not dealt with professionally.
So while driven car delivery is the cheapest, it can also bring with it a few unforeseen problems. You probably won't be able to get away with going over 100 miles to have a car being delivered through driven deliveries either as we explain here.
You have a small risk of the car developing stone chips (which is true every time you drive a car). Car crashes do also happen, you won't lose out financially since we are fully covered but your customer may not be happy to hear that the car they thought was coming today has been involved in an accident and is no longer available.
For this reason, many car delivery companies will choose the car transporter method instead. They feel it simply isn't worth the risk and would prefer to pay the extra ££ to show a higher level of professionalism to their customer base.
Used Car Sales Since Coronavirus Hit So Far...
Used car sales have been hit hard since the coronavirus pandemic which hit in 2020. Having said that, there is still a huge number of used cars being delivered to customers across the United Kingdom. It is important to pick a partner which takes safety and hygiene seriously during these unprecedented times.
So what is the best solution for used car delivery?
It really does depend. For example if most of your customers are local (within 50 miles) and the roads are pretty clean and safe then we would recommend the driven delivery method. Our drivers are experienced, mature and well mannered drivers who love their job.
If however you have long distance journeys to get the used car to its destination and into the customer's hands then a car transporter would be best. This is also true if you have to go slightly off the main roads and onto country roads. On country roads, there can be a lot of debris, dirt, and other potential hazards involved in transporting the car to the final destination.
We are experts in used car deliveries across the United Kingdom. Our team always offer you the very best options for the safe delivery of cars to ensure that you keep the reputation of your company in good stead.
Used Car Delivery In Country Regions
Knowing the roads well by now, our team will only agree to using the safest options available when delivering used cars. This is for your benefit just as well as ours. While this can mean slightly fluctuating prices, there is sound logic in why we do it.
Transportation of cars across country regions is a perfect example of why we do this. The last thing we want is for the car to be delivered to a customer with paint defects of even engine problems due to the harsh country roads. An extra 40p per mile every now and then for a car transporter seems like a sound investment when you consider that it is your companies reputation on the line!
Deliveries In London
Please be aware of the emissions charge in London. This can cost are £150 for cars and will need to be included in the delivery price when taking outside of that area for some vehicles.
Of course it can't always be possible to avoid this cost so we try to be more flexible with the price. The last thing we want is for you to feel as though it just isn't worth selling the car so we keep the car delivery costs down as much as possible.
Used Car Transportation In Northern Ireland, Jersey & Isle Of Wight
Delivering cars off the mainland incur seperate charges such as ferry costs which we can talk you through during price negotiation. This can become slightly complicated at times, especially if you have a specific time frame for delivery in mind.
For example, if you are delivering your car to Northern Ireland, there are a few different ferries you can use. We will pick the best destination based on where your car is located as well as how quickly you need your car delivering.
Our logistics team will figure out the best route for the delivery of your used car from the mainland and onto one of the islands. We have been doing this a long time and take every variable into consideration. Usually, companies are happy to pick the car up themselves from the island once it has safely boarded the ferry.
That way you don't have to worry about return ferry costs or paying extra due to the fact the driver had to sit on the ferry and drive a few more miles down the road.
